Understanding Web services

Hi,

I have just started reading through "SuiteTalk" (Web services) Platform guide.
I will need to customise a few forms on our website to link the forms to Netsuite (for displaying and inserting data).

Can some one advise on
1. pre-requisites before I can start doing that (programming languages? or just Netsuite)
2. "Must read" sections of the Netsuite Guide
3. "Must read" tutorials in Netsuite central
4. What is custom Web-services specific forms? (pg 33 of "SuiteTalk" (Web services) Platform guide)
5. Someone else set up the Netsuite features that we are currently using now. How do I locate the "database schema". I can only see the GUI when I log in. Is there a database design view.
