Netsuite error updating customer record

Hi,

We are trying to update a customer record that was created before we had team selling turned on.  As a result, everytime we make the API call to update the record we get the following error in the result code:

code=USER_ERROR,
type:ERROR,
detail:Sales team sales rep total does not equal 100%, 1 sales reps, 0.0 total contribution.

What do we have to do programmatically to ensure that we can assign a sales rep and set their contribution to 100% programmaticaly?
