Searching for CustomRecords (child records) of a specific Item?

I have many CustomRecord Types with an Item field set as the parent record. So for any Item there could be 0 or more CustomRecord Types with 1 or more CustomRecords linked to the Item. What I would like to do is search once per Item and find all corresponding CustomRecords to the specific Item, no matter the Type. Is this possible in the UI or Web Services?
