Item Search often just stops

Hello,

We've had a Web Services application in production for months. Just after the 2009.1 upgrade a couple of things happened.

1. SiteCategorySearchBasic no longer returns top level tabs. This wasn't a show stopper for us but a bit annoying.
2. ItemSearchBasic completes without actually having delivered all the records. We are expecting 7609 item records to be returned. The number actually returned has ranged up from 160 records to the expected amount but no error conditions are returned from the web service call.

Is anyone else having such search problems?
