CustomRecord Advanced Search - missing joined data

It appears that custom joins aren't returned with an advanced custom record search?  I knew that we couldn't DEFINE them with WS, but I didn't realize that an existing search with joins would not work.  Maybe I'm missing something?

Custom record saved search with joins to other records (transactions, entities, custom records) - NONE of the joined fields are being returned.

Is this correct?
