How to login a client

hi,
I am preparing a webstore for my products.
I need to regiseter a client and login for the client,
I am using Netsuite Perl Library.
I need to know how can i make a customer login, i have tried CustomerSearchBasic , i can search for a customer but I need to verify the password.
If i do create a Passport then the error is returned that the user do not have webservices access permission.

Can anyone tell me what is the steps i need to do to Validate the user.
Please help me,
