MUST set Use Permissions true to search Custom Record

I have just concluded day two of debugging a problem related to searching a specific custom record.  I would get INSUFFICIENT PERMISSION errors with any role other than the built in Administrator Role.

I tried creating a COPY of the Administrator role and didn't even work.  As a long shot I finally tried setting the Use Permissions option to true and then it worked.

So this defect now forces me to artificially add a bunch of rigid permissions to this record type.  What a waste of time.

I just thought I would share this here in case anyone else runs across this strange bug.
