Differences between Production and Sandbox WS

I am using the 2009.2 release for production and sandbox testing. When switching between the two URLs I am running into differences on the Site Category object. Due to using the two objects in my application, I am having to modify the application to test in the sandbox.

Is there a workaround to avoid having to modify my application each time?
