How to 'unset' a SelectCustomFieldRef

Hi there,

As part of a webservices call I want to 'unset' a drop down, i.e. a SelectCustomFieldRef.

I just keep getting that it can't be null. Anybody know how I do this?  I've tried setting the internalId to 0, -1 , null, false, removing it entirely...

Help appreciated!
