Searching for SerializedInventoryItems - wsdl v2009_2_0

Hi

I'm trying to search for a SerializedInventoryItem using WCF and C# against Netsuite WSDL v2009_2_0.  In the case of an inventory item, I am using the search method and everything works fine.  In the case of a Serialized Inventory Item, it returns an error of "The field type's enum value <serializedInventoryItem> is invalid for this search."

I was wondering if there is a way to search for a serialized inventory item as I can't find any documentation anywhere to explain why I can't search for a serialized item using the search method.
