Inventory as of a specific date

Is there a way, through web services, to get the inventory quantities and valuation as of a specific date?

I can get the current inventory easy enough but then after the first of the month, people are still correcting things and back dating the transactions which changes the stated inventory for the first of the month.

Thanks in advance for any help
