Cannot seem to populate custom fields on custom subtab via SuiteTalk

We've added several custom fields to the Customer (Lead) object in our Sandbox that are displayed on a subtab beneath the main Lead record.

I'm attempting to populate them via SuiteTalk upon creation of a new Lead record via web services.

The lead seems to be created fine and I can add Address information (also on a subtab) but the custom fields are not being populated nor am I receiving any errors.  I can see via a command window that the values are being passed via web services but upon reviewing the new Lead record in the Sandbox the subtab values are blank.
