Dashboard Portlets - Opportunity Type

Hello,

I am having trouble with some report snapshots.  I want to create the following report snapshots for my dashboard - perhaps a pie chart.

- Opportunities by Sales Rep
- Opportunities by Status
- Opportunities by type (custom field)

I know I can get visuals on my dashboard via a saved search, but I don't want to use up all 3 of my dashboard custom searches on this, and would much rather prefer report snapshots.

Now, here is where I struggle - I am having trouble creating the correct report, in order to create the snapshot, I've tried creating reports from scratch, and also customizing a canned report, but I can't seem to get the metrics necessary.
