lead from existing customer

Does anyone have any idea how to notify a sales rep when a lead comes from an existing customer (thus the status isn't lead, but rather customer).  We import leads weekly and many of them are from existing customers who may have attended a trade show (or some other source) and they ask for information on a different product.  Is there an effective way of informing sales reps that this customer is requesting additional information?
