Any tricks for formatting item descriptions?

I'm trying to get descriptions to line up (kinda like using tabs in a word processor) but the text format is proving difficult (variable spacing). Is there any code that can be put into the Netsuite item description text fields to fake a tab character?

Desired result is to have the hashes line up perfectly. Can't do it without some form of tab char.

ABC - This is the first part of the model description
D     - Second part
E     - Third Part
FG    - Forth Part

Any tricks would be appreciated.
