Sorting doesn't work

Opened case number 563930 for this.  In the hope of getting a response, I'm also posting here:

"Do an item search, sort by type asc, then name asc. It doesn't work. For example, I have 2 non-inventory items for sale:

License-BA4P
License-SAL

When sorting in NetSuite, the SAL item shows up first. When I export that exact same item list to Excel, and sort there by the same criteria (type asc, then by name asc); Excel sorts correctly."

I am wondering if this is related to the goofy item lists I'm asking about here?
