Offline client won't start

I'm experimenting using the offline client for custom records but whenever i try to start the client and it gets to the point of downloading lists for my custom records and something goes wrong and I just get an error message informing me there was a problem (pretty vague) and an option to go back and try again.

Anyone experienced this?
