Season’s greetings to you and yours! As we head into the holidays (December 24 – January 4), we want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible strength and collaboration within our community. Even during the break, you can continue to benefit from connecting with peers, searching related threads, posting your questions, and marking helpful replies as “Accepted” in the Support Community.
Please note our dedicated team will be on reduced coverage during this time, and regular responsiveness will resume on January 5. Wishing you a joyful and restful holiday season!

Building the forecast - How to use quotes AND opportunities?
Hello Smart NetSuite people.
I have a question that needs some background.
How should one build the forecast in NS if one team uses opportunities, and doesn't want to use quotes, and the other team only quotes, and doesn't want to create opportunities?
Now, I understand that there is the "omitted" option for opportunities and quotes but it doesn't really work well for us.
For the outside sales team, they manage business by opportunities. The deals are longish sales cycle and so they may send out 4 or 5 quotes to the customer over the course of a couple months as they come closer to a solution, or the customer waffles between purchasing and not. Therefore, it makes sense not to include quotes in the forecast. The sales reps could never be close to perfect remembering to commit or omit quotes from the forecast as time goes by.
