Tracking & Billing for Service Work

Our company is in the telecommunications industry.  We roll six service technicians daily to customers needed service work completed.  We are currently utilizing cases to track and bill for the labor portion of this work. Any parts/material go on a sales order.

I would like to send the technician their case assignments via sms text message to their cell phones.  Is this possible via case assignment, or would tracking time via tasks work better?
