Create a lead out of a case

I get cases via e-mail into the system with no existing customer assigned. I would like to creat a new lead out of the case. Using the new feature in the case for customer brings a pop-up with only customer as a option and afterwards allows me to add a customer (status customer won) but not a lead. Is there anything to customize to get also the option to create a lead?
