Kit Availability in Item Pages

I have seen a few posts about adding availability of Kits (e.g. kit members available to make x number of kits available) to web store pages...this seems simple enough.

But how do I add the kit availability to the item forms - it would be great to customize the header portion of the item form to show the total number of kits that could be put together based on the available quantities of each member...or if this is not possible, then to at least add the available qty of each member next to the "qty" field in the kit members list.
