Binary files corrupted in File Cabinet due to "wrong" file extension?
SUMMARY: NetSuite tampers with the content of data in the file cabinet, depending on the file type.
- Got a .zip or .bin? Nothing changes.
- Got a "flawless" clean .txt file? Nothing changes, you're fine... maybe.
- Got a .txt file with some binary data inside? The file will be permanently corrupted with no means to get the original file.
TO DUPLICATE:
Just upload any binary file into NetSuite, but rename the file to .txt before you upload it. Try to download the file. It's corrupted.
This happens to us when a customer's email client won't permit a .zip attachment. They zip a log file (ASCII text), then rename it to .txt to get their email client to send it.
