Sales MTD report (saved search)

I want to generate a saved search report that tallys Month to Date sales and emails itself to all sales reps every Monday. 

I know how to generate sales, but how do i set the search to make always return the MTD figure automatically?  Right now my report has a selectable date, but that wont help if I am trying to automate it.
