Multiple Customers for Opportunities

Hi all

Is there a way for assigning multiple customers to opportunities (eg if an opportunity is for a non-incorporated joint venture of multiple companies, or if the opportunity is to a contractor and it would be useful to record / assign the owner company as well)?

Can this be done directly and if so how? If not is there a work around?
