Simple reports?

I am trying to create some basic reports- # of transactions related to sales, cogs, PO's, pmts, and receipts, ie- how many invoices billed, po's issed, ert, and their status (open or closed)  this should be simple enough, but apparently my brain is not working this morning, and I can't seem to find anything related to number of transactions- just the transaction specifics.

Anyone??????
