Sorting on Last Name for Sales Reports

Our customer default type is individual. I am trying to create Sales reports that will list First Name and Last Name of customer in individual fields so that I may sort on Last Name.

Unfortunately these fields aren't available, only the name field is (which includes Parent/Child, First, Middle and last name).

I know I can get this information using a Search, but our folks really want a Report - easier, pdfs, etc. We are a school and I am trying to create Course Rosters, so sorting on last name is crucial.

Is there a way to sort on the name field that would sort on last name?
