Sales By Customer Detail - Group by month?

I've been requested to provide a Sales by Customer Detail report that will show subtotals for each month.  I customized the standard report and remove the Transaction Type ("invoice") column and set the Date to "Group with Previous Column".  This does appear to group correctly but I can't make it group all dates in a month together.  Basically I want to see each months sales as a subtotal.

Is this possible?  Seems like it should be.
