Custom Fields in Reports

I've got a couple of Custom Transaction Body Fields that I cannot find to include in the columns of a Transaction Report.  The only thing that is different about these fields is they do NOT have the Store Value checked because there is a formula associated with them.  Is this a defect, or is it by design that not all custom fields are available in the Report Builder.  I can select them on a Saved Transaction Search, but I need some subtotals on a report that the saved search does not seem to be able to produce.
