Discounting Invoices

Im new to Netsuite and trying to add a discount to the total invoice, however every time I add the discount either in percentage or value it adds to the net total rather than deducts. You would think this would be pretty straight forward using the fields provided but so far, no luck!

Could this be something to do with the original set up or am I missing something really obvious?
