"$" character causes online case form to crash

Is anyone having a problem with a customized online case form where using a "$" character during form entry in the "Incoming Message" field throws an undefined submission error?

I tested the form and did everything the same as the version that crashed, but removed the $ character and it submitted. It's not the character count because I used ipsum lorem with the same number of characters and they submitted also.
