Validate Field Function not working in FF

I have a customer form where I have the Validate Field Function under the Custom Code section filled out. Essentially, it checks some values of one field, and based on that value, applies a value to another field (which is hidden).
Now this is working in IE, but not FF. I asked support (case #996364), and after some going round and round, they told me to contact Professional Services. Support thought it had something to do with the submit button, but even after I try their resolution, it still does not submit in FF. But if I remove the code & reference to the script in the Custom Code section of the form, then FF works just fine (of course I don't get my hidden fields populated).
