Preventing robots from signing up customers

edited Nov 22, 2019 6:06PM in CRM 5 comments

I created a sweepstakes and found out that there are a lot of the records created for the same person with the same email and contact information.  If I click on duplicates, I see about 10 names like the following:

ONLINE100 Joe Jones
ONLINE1011 Joe Jones
ONLINE1170 Joe Jones
ONLINE1312 Joe Jones
ONLINE1703 Joe Jones
ONLINE210 Joe Jones
ONLINE27 Joe Jones

The "ONLINE#" part becomes the Customer ID of that record and the name, address and email address are all the same for all the records.

Any idea on how to:
1) mass elimiate all these records,
2) avoid bots in the future like implementing a security feature where the person signing up has to type in a randomly generated warped word that appears on the screen before they can proceed?

Howdy, Stranger!
