help with Letter template - can't find file?

I'm trying to start some letter template.
I've done email ones fine.
Step #7 in instructions for creating letter templates says:
In the Select Data Source Window, locate the data source file on your computer.

The file name looks like NetSuiteSampleHeaderFile13. If you do not see this file, make sure that All Data Sources is selected in the Files of Type field.
Doesn't advise what to do if you cannot find this file! (I searched my computer)
So I tried creating the template using the email template, and then copied into word doc, but that didn't work as I'm assuming it didn't recognize the tags as merge fields, and displayed the tags as tags instead of the values.
