Email Did Not Reach Customer or Employee CCs

We are new to NetSuite, so would like to know if this is a common problem. 

One of our customer service employees responded to a support case through NetSuite and CCed me and another employee (we did not know she CCed us at the time). None of us, including the customer received the email.  The only way we found out is because the customer called to say that they never received a response from us.

When we look at the log of messages, it says that the email was sent to the correct email address and we were CCed on the email.  I don't think it is a situation with the email going to junk mail because we have received many other emails from this customer service rep sent through NetSuite.
