Import of record is more than what is on csv file

Hello,

We have been expreciencing some issues with the importing of csv. files.  There would be say 10 leads on the csv file but when the import is completed, it shows that 20 has been imported.
I took a look at the spreadsheet and can not see any visible issues.  Are there steps I should take in "cleaning" the file before importing?
