Client CSV Import Requires "Type" Field

I have a customer import file containing 40 fields and 190 records.  All of the fields map to valid NetSuite Client fields.  Yet 0 records are imported and all records have an error that states, "Please enter a value for Type".  Yet Type is not a field available for mapping, nor is it a field that is searchable on client records.  Does anyone know how to get past this problem?
