Item Categories

I need to find a way to export an item's category list.  Currently, when I run a saved search and I have 'category' on the results tab it only shows one result when I know that the item has multiple categories assigned to it.  I need to get a list of all the categories.
Also, the one category that is shown on the results field is the category that is listed first in the sublist on the item record.  This is always sorted alphabetically and I cant see how to change that either.
Anyone have any ideas?
