Seperate permission on custom role for case and help desk type cases?

I am trying to setup a custom role which has only Help Desk list permission, rather than full case permission, is this possible?

The reason I wish to do this is to limit those users in that role to "own" cases, as there seems no other way to restrict this.

Help appreciated.



Whoops, thats not going to work either, I want them to see subordinates cases also...
