Can employee center create opportunities?

From my understanding, we cannot customise the employee center, is that right?

If I need to allow employee to view their customers and create leads and opportunities, which center role should I use ?

Or can I add in a portlet or anything to allow
1. Search by customers (All including own)
2. Create new Leads, New opportunities, prospects etc?
