Partner cannot access certain item records

I have a partner setup assigned to the partner center.  In testing I am trying to enter an order accessing as the partner and I have 2 items that they will be creating orders for.  One of the items is allowed in a sales order just fine but the other shows No Results when I try and enter it.  Both items appear to be setup identically.  On the Partner Center role I do NOT have the check box checked to have Class, Department, Subsidiary, Location apply to items.  I think I am losing my mind...  Any ideas out there?
