Author must be employee for nlapiSendEmail?

I'm trying to use nlapiSendEmail and I've tried using my employee name and my email employee email address as the "author" of the email but I keep getting an error - SSS_AUTHOR_MUST_BE_EMPLOYEE.

I don't see any internal ID numbers that I can use.  What am I missing?
