delete line item on a server script?

I was just wondering whether anyone had successfully deleted a line item from a transaction in a server side script? I cannot see any way of making this work.

The goal is to automaitically invoice all service items, and leave stock items until they are available to be fulfilled. I can do a new record, but there is a lot of picking of fields then.... transform is so much easier...
