Adding a line to a PO - unexpected error

Hi

I'm trying to add a line to a PO within the PO's BeforeSubmit server event.  When I set the item, quantity and rate the PO submits OK but the amount & gross amount fields are nopt calculated (they are left blank) and the VAT Code is not automatically populated either.

When I try to set the amount field in code I get an "unexpected error", so it seems impossible to a add a line to a PO in this way.

Is there a solution to this problem?
