Can I display the actual name of the sender in nlapiSendEmail?

I noticed when we send an email using nlapiSendEmail that the sender field shows up as only the email address (e.g. jdaniels@myco.com). Is there a way to include the name like 'Jack Daniels' as well? Since we pass only the employee ID, it does not seem we have control over this.
