Code Names By Field Type in the online Help

In the online Help....

Scripting and Web Services >> SuiteScript >> Client SuiteScript Developer Guide >> Code Names >> Code Names By Field Type >> Transaction Fields

.....there are tables of information related to field names, but the cells in the table have these values: "both", "screen", "off" and "print".   I can't find anything that explains what these actually mean (or what it means if the cell is blank instead of "off", for example).   

Could somebody clue me in, please?  I'd just rather not assume that it means one thing and find out later that it meant something else.
