Possible to call a SuiteLet from an external application with an authenticated sessio

I'm scrambling to find a workaround for a limitation I just encountered.  The only thing I can come up with is calling a SuiteLet from my desktop applicaiton that would return the required data.

I know I can make a SuiteLet "Available without Login" but this particular data is very sensitive and I'm not comfortable with that option.

Anyone know if it's possible to pass an authenticated sesssion with an HTTP request to a SuiteLet?  I don't know much about HTTP sessions, and requests and all that, but I will learn if... there is hope for accomplishing what I'm after.
