Using List/Record fields in Suitelets

This is my question.
I'm creating a suitelet using custom html code.
I'm not using the UI objects.
I need to display a customer list/record field where the user can search for/select a customer.
Is there a way to do this?
Is there a function or code that I can plug in to mimic the customer list/record field?
