Referencing Purchase Tax Field in Assembly

I have code that sets the Purchase Tax Code field value in my items.  It works for other item types but not for Assemblies. 

I'm referencing the Purchase Tax Code field id as 'purchasetaxcode'.  Is the id different for Assemblies?
