Documentation for package sublist of Item Fulfillment

Does anyone know where to find the documentation for the package sublist? I am having a real hard time to count number of packages of an Item Fulfillment. 

var recordIF = nlapiLoadRecord(....); // load item fulfillment record
recordIF.getLineItemCount('package');

The above code segment returns zero (0).  The item fulfillment has two packages.

I really appreciate any lead.
