Debugger: Is the watch supposed to call toString() for custom objects?

I just finished adding toString() methods to a bunch of my objects so I wouldn't need to drill down so much in the watch window.

I was bummed to see toString() doesn't appear to be evaluated in teh watch window.

Is this intentional or a defect?  Something special I need to do?
